LONGMORN DISTILLERY

One of the greatest Speyside malts, cherished by connoisseurs but not widely known.  Longmorn is admired for its complexity, its combination of smoothness and fullness of character, and from its big bouquet to its long finish.  It is noted for its cereal-grain maltiness; oily flavors, reminiscent of beeswax; and estery fruitiness, the last characteristic perhaps deriving from wooden fermentation vessels.

The distillery was built in 1894-95, and has a disused waterwheel and a workable steam engine.  It was extended twice during the 1970s.  In recent years, the company has begun to market the Longmorn whisky more actively as a 15-year-old.  Recent bottlings have been excellent.

HOUSE STYLE
Tongue-coating, malty, complex.  Versatile, delightful before dinner, and especially good with dessert.
