CARDHU DISTILLERY

One of several women who were key figures in the industry, Elizabeth Cumming rebuilt this distillery in 1872 (at the time, it was at least half a century old).  Her family were long involved in the fortunes of the Johnnie Walker blends, of which Cardhu malt whisky is the soft heart.  In more recent years, a Cumming had a role in the introduction of the present Cardhu as the first widely available single malt from what is now UDV.  In 1998, a Rare Malts edition was released.  Independent bottlings can occasionally be found, sometimes using older spellings of the name.  Cardhu is on a hillside near the Spey, in the heart of malt-whisky country.

HOUSE STYLE
Light, smooth, sweetish, delicate.  An easy-drinking malt.
